Private Voice Lessons for Adults in Colorado Springs

Maybe you sang in high school, or church, or at a wedding once, and you've wondered ever since what would have happened if you'd kept going.

Maybe you've taken lessons before, and you left every single one of them a little more braced than when you arrived, because the teacher had one sound in mind and it wasn't yours.

Maybe you're singing right now, but something's in the way — a tightness, a ceiling you can't quite explain, a voice that doesn't feel entirely like yours.

If any of that sounds familiar, you're exactly who this studio was built for.

At Your Instrumental Body, we don't teach a cookie-cutter technique and hope your voice bends to fit it.

We work with your whole instrument — voice, body, mind, and nervous system together.

Because most of what actually limits a voice never started in the throat. It started in tension nobody ever showed you how to release.

Give that tension room to move, and the sound that's been there the whole time finally gets to come out.

We don't sing in a bubble — your voice is a direct reflection of how your instrumental body is functioning.

A single worried thought shows up in the body, and the body shows up in the sound.

The same strategies that free up your voice here are the ones that end up serving you everywhere else, not just onstage.

Three Ways to Work Together

Every path includes a weekly private lesson and the same coordination-first approach — they differ in depth and support, not in philosophy.

Nurtured Singer.

Weekly voice lessons with somatic principles woven in from the first note. This is where most returning and reconnecting adult singers find range they didn't know they had, and start to realize tension — not talent — was ever the obstacle.

Embodied Voice.

Everything in Nurtured Singer, plus a dedicated monthly Alexander Technique lesson. This is for singers who feel the shift in the lesson and want it to stop disappearing the moment they walk out the door — coordination that starts showing up in daily life, not just when you're singing.

Body Mapping. Voice Teacher showing anatomy picture to adult singer.

Achiever Membership.

Built for adults with something real on the calendar — a community theatre audition, a church solo, a return to performing after years away, a work presentation where your voice needs to hold as much as your nerves do. Adds performance-focused practice strategies and extra support between lessons, so what works in the practice room still works in the room that matters.

Curious which one fits? That's exactly what the Discovery Call is for — we'll figure it out together, no pressure to know in advance.

How This Actually Works

Unlike other studios where they get hyper focused on specific parts of the body, breaking you into pieces, at Your Instrumental Body, we focus on how each part relates to the rest of the body - bringing you back to the relationship between all the parts so that they can function together.

YOU ARE WHOLE.

When one part functions differently, ALL OF YOU changes as a result!

This includes our relationship to the world, social interactions, and experiences, which influence our thoughts, and how the body is impacted by our thoughts, and how our voice is a result of our physical use, our thinking, and our environment.

In this studio you get more than vocal technique. You will gain strategies to exercise healthy choices that result in YOU making the choices that will best serve you, your goals, and how you show up in the world.

Time is not the product here — transformation is.

Lessons are private, weekly, and built around your voice specifically — not a program you're squeezed into.

And you're not doing this in isolation: membership includes online Studio Classes where you have opportunities to perform a piece and have it workshopped in a supportive group setting, workshops and masterclasses with guest clinicians throughout the year, and a yearly Studio Showcase.

We call it a Studio Showcase and not a recital on purpose. "Recital" comes loaded with a kind of pressure this studio doesn't teach — the idea that the only thing worth applauding is a flawless performance.

Studio Showcase is built around the opposite belief: that showing up, taking the risk, and being seen mid-growth is the actual point.

As a new student in Amy Mushall’s voice studio, I was apprehensive about taking small group lessons. However, after joining the first class... I now value the small group lessons and am eager to apply my new understanding of each topic to my personal practice and my private lessons with Amy.
